Clue Themed Party

Every year at halloween I throw a costume party for my sister, my three Vance cousins, and my neice and nephew (It also happens to be near my nephew's birthday). So, the theme this year was the game Clue and, since there were a bunch of girls, we all dressed as Miss Scarlet. Of course my nephew couldn't be Miss Scarlet so he dressed as Professor Plum.(a cowboy Professor Plum) So the first thing I had to figure out was what we would feed people. This is what I came up with : Peacock Fowl (chicken nuggets), Mr. Green's Fresh Fruit (apples and kiwis) , Mrs. White Rolls, Professor Plum's Purple Punch (grape juice, cranberry juice,  ginger ale), and for dessert Miss Scarlet's Parfait (red jello, whipped cream). Here is a picture of the food sitting on the table.

The next thing I needed to do was find games to play. Unfortunatly I do not have any photos of us playing games. I was much too busy playing them to take pictures. We ,obviously, played Clue.  I will explain only one of the games we played because we played too many to explain them all. It is called The Secret Formula. This is how it is played. Pick a good natured guest and ask him/her to leave the room until he/she is called back. When the good natured guest is gone you will ask the rest of your guests to sit in a circle. When they have done so, explain that the good natured guest will ask each person one question. The person asked has to answer what the person to their left would answer. For example , say Mr. Green was sitting to the right of Mrs. Peacock and was skmoking a pipe. The good natured guest asked him if he was smoking a pipe. He would say,"Absolutly not! I have never smoked a pipe in my life!" Because, you see , Mrs. Peacock does not smoke a pipe. She was to his left and he answered as if  he were Mrs. Peacock. This is the secret formula for the answers you give: you answer what the person to your left would answer. Now that everyone understands what they are supposed to do you call the good  natured guest back into the room. Tell him/her that they can ask each person only one question and that from those questions the good natured guest must try to guess what the formula for answering is. If need be they can go around the circle more than once. You can also make up different formulas to keep the game going longer. So then after we finished all the games we watched a mystery movie. Because there were people there who would not enjoy a murder mystery (including me) we watched the Jerry Lewis mystery " It's Only Money". We then went to bed ( because it was also a sleepover) and in the morning we took Miss Scarlet and Professor Plum pictures. Here are some of those:

And that is how I threw a creative party.

The 1700's Bumpit

Ok, I am going to show you how to fix your hair like a lady from the 1700's. I call it the 1700's bumpit because of the way it is done. Here is a picture to show you what we are going for. Sort-of.
Supplies:

This is how we will do it!

I have outlined the pieces of hair so that you can see them better.

Do it again on the other side of your head. This will make it so that you only have the hair on the back of your head to deal with.

And here are the pictures of our finished product!

Being Creative With Music

My sister and I being creative with the song Norwegian Dance by Edvard Grieg. I am Mr. Curmudgeon and my sister is the elegant Miss Margaret. :)

Music is one of my favorite things to be creative with. The Bible talks about music a lot. I found a list of verses on music and they really struck my heart. One of these verses is Job 35:10. This is what it says,"but no one says, where is God my Maker who gives songs in the night." What this passage has been talking about is these people who aren’t going to God with their troubles. The point I would like to make with this is that God gives to us songs. Why would he give songs if he didn’t want us to praise Himwith them? After all our purpose is to praise God and give Him the glory for everything. The Bible tells us this in Matt. 5:16," Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
The next point I would like to make is that God loves us so much that He puts us in these trials so we can hear His beautiful love song. This is what Job is mostly about. This fact makes my heart feel like singing! God is the only one that can comfort me in this most absolute and perfect way. And the thing is ,He does it with "a song in the night" . It is my belief that God also wants us to try to comfort each other with song and to play for each other’s enjoyment. This is why music is important to me and why I enjoy being
creative with it.

I will extol you my God
O King I will bless your name
With the reason of everyday
I will praise your name forever

One generation speaks your name
of the glorious splendor
highly to be praised

As men pour forth like a fountain
the praises of your grace
highly to be praised

I'll sing it loud, I'll sing it loud
abounding in mercy
and loving-kindness

I'll sing it loud, I'll sing it loud
your saints praise your tender mercies
highly to be praised.

O Lord, My King.
My eyes wait for you
Your open hand provides
gracious and merciful

You who are so close to me
hear my cry
hear my prayer

My lips speak your praise
I'll sing your name
forever and ever
